  Shooting in Toronto 2000jan23

is very common
there is shooting to settle dispute almost on a daily basis
here is my comment:
may i suggest the following measures
1. news and tv stations should continue to keep detail coverage of such incidents
2. all citizens should be capable of taking pictures with cell phones
3. camera surveilance at public places should be stepped up
4. sentences on possession of firearms and shooting at people should be stiff
>_> then such incidences should lessen

the head of ttc says such incidences rarely happens
so people should not be unduly alarmed
>_> my comments:
i think the head of ttc and his family most likely do not use the ttc
if they are he wouldnt be saying what he is saying
i come from a country whom others consider draconian
anyone caught carrying a gun is hanged
let alone firing at people
fortunately it is very rare to find people to hang
my point is
the law must be tough on people carrying guns
and even shooting illegally
if the law is not tough
then we will hear the same story everyday

Comments:

i the draconian country i mentioned people who carry guns illegally are hanged but people caught stealing are not deprived of their hands
but my point is it is almost impossible to find someone carrying a gun illegally
but i must qualify by saying that it is a small country and it is much easier to enforce such a law
my point is still this: that the authority must be hard on people using the gun illegally and for crime

I'm going to post an article about handguns. You may disagree.

you are right from your perspective
if we go along that line of reasoning
then every honest citizen should be required to be liscenced to carry a handgun and use it responsibly
like driving a car
or using power tools
?_? right?_?

Sorry I sooooo disagree, Toronto is still Toronto the good. The TTC is one of the safest subway systems in the world. There are similar incidences world wide, and here is where I do agree with you, the only point of a handgun is to kill human beings. They are not used to kill game (food) and have been designed with only one object in mind, and that is to end human life. Tighten up the gun laws even further by making it totally illegal to own a hand gun (quite your whining about target shooting, that's just bs - use an air gun). The guns need to be in the hands of the police and no one else, and even they need to be vetted on a much tougher basis.

however, hanging people with handguns is probably a little tough - do they cut the hands off of people who steal??
