  Mother Nature is Perplexed

Poor, poor Mother Nature! She is as confused as our "illustrious" statesmen; She doesn't know whether it is summer or fall. For a few days, She thought that fall had arrived: the temperatures were down right chilly while the leaves and vegetation started exhibiting the first shades of fall colors. Then, it was summer again with the temperatures resembling the dog days of August and the grass calling out to be mowed while the trees were flash frozen in their beginning stages of color.

As I was exercising this morning, the sky opened its faucet and torrents of rain fell giving the thirsty Earth a much needed drink. Now the temperatures have once again become cooler and the combines rest in the half-harvested fields, patiently awaiting the arrival of a clear sky and the farmers to once again put them to use.

I don't know if it is my imagination or wishful thinking that is making the trees appear to be deepening their colors before my eyes. Hopefully Mother Nature will soon get her act together and set the stage for a glorious fall.

I have been away for a while. Too much drama in my life!

Nice to have you here again!
Don't you just LOVE the changing seasons? I think I'll always need to live in a place that has summer, fall, winter and spring. I truly love all four seasons.

I do too, but spring and fall are my favorites. I love the newness and the fresh colors of spring, but I also love the winding down of the growing season and the vibrant colors of fall.

Hi Angie! I'm glad you're back. Well, you're back - kind of. Here it's still summer!

Hi, sweetie. I had to take a break--the politics and such had me in hiberation mode!

Great time of year. Too bad winter must follow.

I suppose even winter has its benefits--a time to rest and read and catch up on things that we are much too busy to do in the other seasons! A break from the yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not ready for winter but fall is ok.

No, the cold weather certainly has its down side! The stork dropped me in the wrong zone!!!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't have enough rain to have a pretty fall. Looks like you will!
comment by elderjane on Oct 9, 2008 5:04 AM ()
It is raining again today and the temps have again dropped. I don't think that the colors are as pretty right now as they have been in the past. I hope to get a few good pictures.

I'm in Southeastern Michigan... not that terribly far from you and I agree that the weather is just plain odd. Warm, then cold, cold then frost warning, warm then rain... yikes... we need to mow the lawn one more time I think,

i like to watch the leaves change to but don't like the thought of the cold weather coming.

No, the stork dropped me in the wrong zone--I'm a temperate weather person and love the spring and fall seasons. After last year's ice storms and terrible weather, I'm apprehensive about what this winter has in store.

Slowly but surely, Mother Nature's paintbrush is leaving dazzling hints at the colorful display to come. Keep watching!

I have my camera ready, but I'm afraid that the display will slip in and out so quickly that I will not have time to click!!!!!!!!!
