  Tidbits of Wisdom

After the stressful week that many of us had, I thought that a small reminder of what is really necessary and important would be nice------

Words of Wisdom

Plan ahead -- It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

He who angers you controls you.

Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop.

We do not stop playing because we grow old ... we grow old because we stop playing.

Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
And dance like no one is watching.

I love them all, but my favorite one is, "He who angers you, controls you." I have learned this lesson through my ex. If I don't react in anger, he doesn't control me. Great quotes!

I agree that when we allow someone to make us feel angry, we are giving them control over us. As a matter of fact, my son and I had this very conversation this afternoon when he was driving and got upset at something a bicyclist did that cut him off. I talked to him about letting it go because it wasn't worth getting angry over.

I have always tried to teach my children and grandchildren that we do give control to those that we allow to anger us. The best response is kindness!

I'm happy that you thought so.

These are wonderful! Particularly the last one. Remember when we were kids and act out our imaginations without giving a darn who saw us doing it?

I don't guess that I've grown up, for I still do that!

Thank you Angie. It helped.

You are most welcome. I need a break from all the seriousness of the past few years--but I fear the worst is yet to come.

I have the last three lines on my kitchen wall. :)

They are wonderful lines to have handy to remind us to enjoy life.

Thanks. Those are good (except for the first).

Favorite is the anger one.

I constantly remind my kids that our anger and hurt only empower those who have misused us.Why didn't you like the first one?

"Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop." That's perfect!

Angie, there is NOT a lot of negativity in this world! ...and you spelled "tired" wrong in your reply to mellowdee's comment.
reply by hayduke on Oct 6, 2008 1:39 PM ()
That is a good one. I am so very tire of all the negativity that has been bombarding me lately!
reply by angiedw on Oct 6, 2008 12:38 PM ()
Thanks. I needed that.

I think that many of us need a break from the grim reality, don't you?
