Hawk's Nest Franklin Institute Live

This is too cool. A hawk has made a nest on a ledge of the Franklin Institute. The wind destroyed the original nest, so the office occupants attached a box to the ledge. The hawk returned, built a nest and has laid two eggs. It can be seen LIVE, as they placed a web-cam inside the window. (No good at night, though). But the live video of this bird during the daylight hours is amazing! Cannot wait to see them hatched!

Hi All! Hoping all of you had wonderful holidays and now into a new year, starting out fresh and of course, all of us hoping for happiness, health and prosperity. For me this past year I was able to recover from my shoulder surgery very nicely, had the opportunity to do an Artist in Residency with ten wonderful children that was so fulfilling, I have worked on healing, affording me to be now medication free! Yahooooo! Right now I think I'm doing well as far as the postpolio situation goes. ...

Involved with a Lot Right Now ...

I haven't been visiting here often I know. I just have been very involved with my personal health challenges, which I still have some things going on, and also with the art and my involvement with all of that and the recent Artist Residency. Keeping up with it all and trying to stay in touch with friends isn't always easy. You can only do what you can do. First things first. Hoping all is well in your worlds.

This Sunday we attended the reception at the Edfish Gallery Opening and Exhibition, where 6 of my paintings were on exhibit. We were lucky enough to have out of town guests visiting who were able to attend and my wonderful son, too. We all had a great time, beautiful art work on display, good munchies and libation. Thanks so much to Ed Walsh, Owner of the Edfish and his sweet wife, Stephanie.

Health Challenges

Haven't been here for a while. Other health challenges during my surgical recovery. All is going well with the shoulder recovery and I've been doing lots of art, which is a beautiful thing. Just working on small size canvases. Unfortunately developed a problem with antibiotics (which I despise taking any way) and this in turn developed into colitis. So, I've been basically working on healing methods, going to the health food store for alternative options, meditation, rest, et cetera, which ...

Polio Shot Controversy - Time Magazine

From Time Magazine today July 31, 2008 http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,940097,00.html The nationwide drive to get Americans of all ages vaccinated against polio was snarled last week in a furious controversy over the safety of the Sabin oral vaccine, Type III. Among 1962's relatively few cases of paralytic poliomyelitis (fewer than 450 to date, with the total not expected to exceed 700 for the year) was a handful believed to have been caused by the Sabin vaccine itself. An ...

Doing Marvelous Week 3.5

Wow! This week the shoulder/arm is doing much much better. I think the exercise program is what really helps get it back into gear. I actually did some painting for a few hours and managed great! So, I'm very happy about it, as at first I felt it wasn't going quick enough, but at this point I'm happy and it actually is feeling so so much better, more like normal, and actually I haven't felt that for about 3 years! Yeeeeha!!

For the Women

Someone sent me this, have no idea who the author is, but it certainly says a lot: There comes a time in every woman's life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstance, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or not at who made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her glory and imperfection. Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life? Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mis ...

Slowly Healing ... .

Just a note to say I'm finally online here. The shoulder is healing nicely, but slowly. A bit too slow for me, but oh well, gotta go with the flow. If I do too much it screams at me, but it's getting there. Picked up a couple small canvases to hopefully paint something I can hold in my lap, as holding the arm up to the canvas right now is not cutting it just yet... no can do. Other than that I want to say thanks for all the well wishes, hugs and kissses, thoughts and prayers.

Recovering from Surgery

I had my surgery on Tuesday. All went well. It was certainly freaky, as they gave me a block, which made my arm and hand virtually feel nonexistent for 2 days!!! My painting arm no less! All is healing up nicely, feeling came back and I'm on the mend. Thanks all of you for your best wishes. Be back soon!

Upcoming Surgery

I have been having some shoulder problems for a few years, what with using a cane, a wheelchair and doing transfers, et cetera. Then I did the acupuncture for my pain situation, which helped a great deal, but the right shoulder continued to be a major problem. So, I went to the doc back in February, had an injection, and they felt it was due to bursitis. The injection did diddleysquat for me, and so I went back to the doc. This time they did MRI. Well, I have a completely torn rotator cuff ...

Yesterday, my dear friends Maurine and Doug Long invited a house full of guests for a surprise 50th birthday party for her sister, Arlyn. Maurine and Doug flew in Timmy, one of Arlyn's son's for the occasion. After picking up Timmy from the airport and surprising Arlyn at home with Timmy's arrival, Maurine came home to a house completely decorated by her husband Doug, all with 50 stuff! The guests arrived, which included all her coworkers, Susan, Maria, Lori, Janet, another great friend, C ...

My First Acrylic Painting ...

SENECA, SPIRIT GUARDIAN I have been painting with oils now for about 15 years or so. Several months ago I saw an advertisement about Atelier acrylic paint, which stated "Chroma Atelier Interactive acrylic paints stay wet on the palette and do not form a skin which allows blending and reworking of paint layers. The paint can continue to be manipulated even after it is touch-dry. Simply restore moisture with an atomizer spray and continue to interact with the paint. These intense colors are ...
