Hey guys, yeah, it's me!!
Having the first cloudy afternoon in almost 3 weeks so thought I'd come in from sunning & swimming & drop a line.
This visit has been a real experience - believe me!
The first week the dog was sick, I didn't know where anything in the house was (even though my girlfriend wrote me a small book of instructions) I had to learn how to operate this laptop without screwing it up (which I did at first then finally got it up & running, whew!) learn how to use an unfamiliar cell phone, drive an almost brand new car in a strange city, learn how not to lock myself in & out without the alarms going off etc. etc. etc.
I must say the first week wasn't my idea of a holiday.
However, after taking the dog to vets for a shot, fumbling around this huge house & mustering the nerve to drive to the malls for food (at least!) things started to settle down.
I was ever so relieved I must say when I finally got on-line & able to use the cell phone. I felt pretty alone & isolated without them.
Anyway, here I am today, 7 days away from my departure back to Canada.
My friends are arriving in JAX from Europe on Thursday so we'll have a few days to spend together before I head home.
I've been to the ocean a few times, been to every thrift shop along Beach Blvd., swam every day, have a killer tan & lost 5lbs from walking the dog each day.
It's been a quiet, reflective time for me & I have certainly appreciated being here.
I'll write more later & perhaps post some pictures.
