Now I'm all choked up. I do get to spend a lot of time with a special few people, but not nearly enough...sometimes none...time with others. I struggle with guilt feelings about those I have neglected or put off, feeling so undeserving of their friendship and love. My desire to be friendly with everyone and to build meaningful relationships with others always was sincere, but, since I was recently told that I really am self-centered (and more), and enough convincing evidence has been presented with it, I have become more reluctant with socializing and communicating. I need to really think about what people really mean to me...and to think about THEM and their feelings and needs... so I can stop being so selfish and, hopefully, become a truly genuine friend. Nice post, Robin. The timing is perfect because this is exactly the message I need right now.

Very nostalgic feeling right now. Because I enjoy almost all music from all genres and times, I often listen to many of the songs and artists mentioned in your post. Eckstine, though, seems to be less popular now than others from his era. Hoffman's music tends to carry on, even when many listeners don't realize who wrote the music.

I can not WAIT to see this movie! It's the "extra bucks" that are needed to see it that is keeping me away. I was almost afraid to read your review because I know you are not fond of Burton's work and, therefore, most likely critical, but you weren't too harsh at all. That makes me feel better because, besides like Johnny Depp and the whole Alice "story", I really like Tim Burton.

I truly am impressed by your talent and admire all your posts that showcase your work. I can honestly see why you wouldn't want a cat getting all comfy and cozy anywhere on or in that chair.

Interesting things to read all the way through. I'm never happy about wars, but I'm happy one brought us the practice of moving the clocks ahead. It's just simply impossible that Carly Simon is 68 because, how can that be? If I'm only 29 and I know she's never been that much older, 68 is definitely impossible. Good luck with the continuing journey of dodging the snow bullets because there's certainly a heck of a lot snow falling in a lot of places. We're getting snow today that just might develop into something substantial, but we're close to being on the snow-to-sleet break line, so it's wait and see for now.

There's nothing worse than a bad movie except a bad ending to an otherwise good movie. When a movie is bad, one isn't surprised as the badness continues, maybe even entertained in a positive way when there are any good moments or features. But, when a movie is good, even when a movie is simply okay and "do-able", a bad ending can spoil it. Too bad about this "Dear John" movie...it doesn't sound like it's great, but as one of those good enough to watch movies...but, in this case, the ending is bad enough not to be just disappointing, but to actually change the opinion and experience of the entire movie.

Well, here's the skinny on the whole thing; they all chew the fat, but some do so figuratively and some do so figuratively AND literally...and, I guess, some people notice that before they go to the polls. Next survey should be WHO is more likely to vote for the bulkier men and skinnier women...is it more women who take physical appearance into consideration than men, is it obese people who vote more one way than skinny people, etc? (I have a theory on this, but I may be wrong.)

Was watching the weather coverage for your area and then as it spread to other parts of the country. Except for a blast of cold air (not even as bad as some blasts of the past), there's been very little in the way of snow here. We had a brief episode of ice that occurred one night, but it's really been quiet weather for the most part. I look forward to seeing your pics...hazardous, cold, inconvenient, but usually still very pretty.

Not a big fan of Jeff Bridges, but don't mind seeing him if a movie is good. This one sounds a bit ho-hum, yet I've heard that it really isn't that bad and that Jeff really does do a good job...two points that you pretty much make here, although you feel that Jeff is better than the movie is. I might consider seeeing this one on DVD, but probably wouldn't pay to see it at the movies.

LOL...I got a kick out of this post! (Which is good if it's about football, right?)

First off, I'm happy the Cowboys did not make it. Oh, it's ok, you can boo me if you want to...I'm just not a Cowboys fan.

Next, I hate sudden death overtime in football, which is the most unfair way of settling a tied game. Whether a coin toss is random or not, the winner of the toss ALWAYS has an advantage...not a fair and level playing ground to me, as far as I'm concerned. In basketball and hockey, possession can change a hundred times (exaggeration) in a matter of minutes before somebody scores, but we all know there's little chance of that happening in football. Also, in basketball and hockey, BOTH teams have a shot at getting the ball or puck...in football, the ball isn't tossed or kicked in the air for "whoever may catch it". (Maybe doing it this way would be more fair?)

Colts vs. Saints...two good teams so I can understand fans being on both sides and some finding difficulty in choosing just one of the teams. Personally, I'm rooting for the Saints...don't think I'll cry if the Colts win, though.

Random coin tosses...wow, did that bring back memories! I took a "probabilities" course in college and, yes, I and my fellow classmates sat around for well over an hour tossing coins to determine the probability of heads vs. tails turning up. Heads won by quite a margin. Even tested spinning coins to see how they would land...heads was the winner again.
