More Frugal Holiday Decorating

I read Troutbend's Frugal Holiday Decorating post a few minutes ago, and it inspired me to pass along one of my own favorite (if not original) holiday decorating ideas. This worked Ok in the beer drinking days, but since we don't drink enough of anything in cans these days, I'll have to leave this lovely idea for other folks.

All those cans would buy some nice Christmas presents.

It looks interesting all lit up. Shiny, red, and green.

Pretty tree, but all those cans in Michigan = lots of $!
comment by busymichmom on Nov 29, 2008 9:27 PM ()
Yup, NY too! It would be like next year's Christmas fund when you take the tree down!

Now, that is some tree! It's quite beautiful... and when you finish with it, it's easy to just have recycling pick it up!!

Well, as Deb (busymichmom) says in another reply, those cans are worth big $$ in her state as well as NY. Somebody could make some $$ cleaning up in January.

Wow, Really, really nice. I am in awe. Think of all that caffeine. Think of all that wire. It really is pretty at night. How clever for someone to think of it.
comment by troutbend on Nov 29, 2008 8:22 PM ()
Yup, clever, and it circulates in email and the poor guy doesn't get any credit for the idea.

Maybe somebody should start selling them over the Internet... Hmm.. Light-weight, or maybe just sell the frame and leave it to the customer to drink the beverage.

Yup, I wouldn't mine having one. I just wouldn't want to have to buy all that Dew!

OMGoodness! I absolutely love the frugal tree. Perhaps it looks as good with Dr. Pepper cans?? I'm in a very frugal mode right now so if the kiddo goes for it.... It's a Dr. Pepper tree for us this year!
comment by jennrud on Nov 29, 2008 2:53 PM ()
Most of us are frugal these days! Dr.Pepper cans are a bit darker than Dew, so it might take a few extra lights to brighten it up!
