  Kitty Kuddles (Free Pattern)

I tried to knit Lion Brand's Bunny Blanket Buddy but found I didn't like the result. The head was too big. The ears were too long and the row of holes along the sides were just begging to trap little baby fingers. This is my simplified version.

Kitty Kuddles

MATERIALS: 1 50g/1.75 oz ball Patons Pixie
1 pair 6.5mm/10.5 US needles
1 pair 5mm/8 US needles
2m/2 yds of black yarn
1 handful of polyester stuffing
1 darning needle

SIZE: 33cm/13 in X 33cm/13 in

TENSION: 14 sts with 5mm/9 US needles = 10 cm/4 inches

Lower Body - With larger needles, cast on 1 stitch.
Working in garter stitch (knit every row) increase 1 stitch at beginning of each row until you have 40 sts on your needle.

Hands - Next row cast on 10 sts. Knit to end of row. (50 sts on needle)
Next row cast on 10 sts. Knit to end of row. (60 sts on needle)
Knit 6 rows.
Next row cast off 10 sts. Knit to end of row. (50 sts on needle)
Next row cast off 10 sts. Knit to end of row. (40 sts on needle)
Tie knots in hands.

Upper Body - Decrease 1 st at beginning of each row until you have 28 sts.

Change to smaller needles and proceed.
Neck - Knit 2 together across row. (14 sts on needle)

Head - Increase 6 stitches evenly across row. (20 sts on needle)
Knit 40 rows.
Embroider face on lower half of head.
Fold head in half and sew side seams.
With right side out sew across top corners of head for ears.
Stuff head and sew back of neck closed.

Well DUH, she is My baby, only 6 months old. I think she would love it, no disrespect to your pattern intended Ma'am.

Um....It's actually a cuddle blankie for a baby.

That yarn looks perfect for the pattern because it fluffs out so nicely. I love the color, too, and the fact that it is a cat. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Dear nitti, with a friend's instruction, years ago, I bought multicolored yarn and knit a sweater with a high crew neck and I kept the pieces unattached for over a year because I was too afraid that the pieces would be ALL WRONG. But finally I did and it was okay. Phew. That was my only project. I would knit more if I had someone like you around to nudge me and show me how (again) to augment and reduce. xx, T
