I call this pattern mine because it's my signature piece. I have made so many, the pattern is permanently burned into my memory but I did not design it. It's been around for many years. These instructions were taken from a Monarch Knitting book from the early 1950's and it is considered a vintage pattern that is no longer under copyright.
*Please Note: The yarn specified in the pattern was sold in 25g/1oz balls and was a fingering or baby weight. The size 6 needles were the old Canadian/British size. They convert to size 5mm/8US.

Hi Marg, I'm going to start knitting this next week can you email me a copy of the pattern as its tiny and i cant make it out properly i would be ever so grateful.
Dear Marg, Hello from Australia, Cannot believe how talented you are. Well Done! Not done this before so hope doing the right thing. I would love to try and make your beautiful shawl and have actually started. May I ask if it is possible to double the pattern? I am using a 2 ply yarn and 2,75 mm needles needles. I've got the first 120 rows done but the width looks as if it will only make a small scarf and not a baby shawl. I've got to use this lace weight yarn. Can I knit 240 rows then do the decreases and after casting off pick up 120 sts?? How could I extend the border and peak bits? There must be a pattern repeat that could make it work. Also is there any possibilty that Row 5 should read Wo, k3 (it reads WO, k2) at the beginning? It is the only row that is different from WO, k3 in the entire pattern. I can't thank you enough in advance for your help. Happy knitting, you really are a star. Karan
Wow, that's gorgeous!
I'm honoured to be compared to your Aunt Mary.
Absolutely gorgeous, Marg! So very, very lovely... And, you've made many of them? Wow!!
Simply lovely! You are right up there with my Aunt Mary--she was an artist with the thread and yarn as you are!
That's what I make them for.
