Home--but Not in the Best of Shape.

Well, friends, I have been back since Sunday, but I just have not felt well enough to blog. The weather was cold, damp, and rainy nearly the entire time I was at Daughter #2's.

My arthritis got really bad while I was there. It is some better now that I am in hot, windy, Oklahoma; but I fear knee surgery is in my not very distant future. I dread it so badly, but both my knees are getting worse by the day.

Arthritis is another malady that arose following chemo. That stuff is so hard on the body; but then cancer is a bit rough on the body as well.

I just can't sit at my desktop for any length of time. I am lying in bed right now using my laptop but even that is not very comfortable.

I will try to blog and read yours as I can; but I do NOT feel at all good right now. Arthritis won't kill a person; but it can make one wish he were dead sometimes.

More later when the pain isn't so bad Some facts provided by Reuters.com

I had knee replacement surgery on both knees..one at a time. It was a very rough two weeks but then if you faithfully do the physical therapy it gets better. I hear that they don't cut through the muscle now and that it is much easier than it used to be. It has been seventeen years since I had it and it was worth it.

I plan to make an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon next week. I have put this off just as long as I can. My left knee won't support me any more when I first stand. Plus I have had to increase my pain medication. I am better but only because I am taking more pain pills, which I don't like to have to do.

Sending a prayer that your arthritis flare-up calms down soon. I have fibromyalgia, and understand pain very well. Here is a bouquet of good wishes!
My stepmom had knee replacements 20+ years ago around age 60. She had one knee done one year and the second knee a year later. Best thing she ever did, she says. I can barely keep up with her!

Well, I am 66. I guess it is time. I will be seeing my orthopedic surgeon in the next week or two to start the process.

I'm so sorry. Don't worry about not "keeping up" on greasy. I can tell you one thing: glucosamine doesn't help with arthritis.

I know. I tried it. Didn't help. It's surgery as much as I dread the thought.

It's good to hear from you, and I hope you get to feeling better. I suffered with bad knees for a couple of years and I know what you are going through.

No, lost 17 pounds, took lots of calcium at bed time and got a Wii Fit package and do the exercises every day. My cartilage is still shot, but my knees don't hurt any more, at all. It is like a miracle, except when I think about it, it's what the doctor said to do, so she knew what she was talking about, so that's not a miracle.

I moved back in with Daughter 1 and Grandson after she lost her job last summer. She is working again but she had to take a hefty pay cut, so I am staying with her, helping financially until she can get her salary back where she needs it to be.

Relax and take it easy for awhile. We'll all be here when you are well enough to return.

Thanks, Kristy. I don't have much choice. I can only do what the pain allows me to do.
