This article and others like it view with surprise for whatever reason that Bush would support Columbia's leadership in its quarrel with its neighbors Equador and Venezuala. Has the fact that only Israel and Egypt recieve more in military assistance from the Americans than Columbia escaped notice? Columbia is America's big helper in the south in terms of drugs and trying to stem the spread of socialism. This is not to say that they have been a big help but with Cuba and Bolivia and Equador and Venzuala all bending the other way poltically, the administration has no other option. Again , here's hoping that cooler heads will prevail in this conflict but if the Turkish-Kurd struggle is any indication... they won't!
