I have looked up the meanings of a few names of past and present family members.


I hope you find this as interesting as I did.


Tracy ...........Latin origin............ meaning Thracius' place. (masculine!)


Victoria.........Latin origin...........meaning Conqueror; victory.


Richard / s.....French origin........meaning  strong /power hardy. (RICHARDS my maiden name.)


My married name  German origin .. meaning Fame and war!


What chance did I ever have with a name like that of ever being lady like mum?

It is strange how 'fad' names get repeated. Around here every young lady about 18 or 19 is named Jessica. Those slightly older are all named Jennifer. It wouldn't do them any good to wear nametags. The toddler girls are all named Hannah. As for the boys, biblical names are back in fashion: Noah, Jed, Matthew and Mark. No Jims, Bobs, Johns or Bills. I wonder if the southerners still use double names like Billy Bob? I always thought those names were super!

I can remember the t.v programme (just . . . I hasten to add)called Petticoat Junction - I am now trying to recall the names of the girls - there wasa Bobby-Jo, Billie-Jo . . . cannot, remember the last one!! Loved that show!
